My father, Theo Canepa made wine at our home, 898 Franklin Street, in a small back yard and would store it in barrels in our tiny garage. I understand my older brothers, Steve, Sal, John and Frank got pretty good at turning the spigot on and catching a few drops of wine now and then. I am the youngest of seven, so I may not have the details right, but you get the idea. Papa would order Zinfandel grapes from Watsonville, the grapes would arrive in a huge truck and 'DROPPED OFF." It was a big event in the Canepa household. Then there was the long wait until tasting time. Papa watched the faces of guests, very carefully, to read their impressions. I would give a lot to experience the feeling of those childhood events. If the man on the far right is not papa, he looks a "helluva lot like him."
