Description
The Lime Kiln lighthouse on the East side of Haro Strait, west side of San Juan Island. The light was first lit on June 30, 1919, and it was the last to be electrified in the San Juan Islands, Washington state in 1960.
The Octagonal tower height is 38 feet made of reinforced concrete and steel it was built on solid rock, 20 feet above high water.
The Fourth order Fresnel lens is 55 feet above Mean High Water mark.
In 1998, the drum lens was replaced with a modern optic, Marine Rotating Beacon Model VRB-25 made in Porirua, New Zealand flashing a white light beacon once every 10 seconds.
